Quebec Tourtiere

Being originally from Quebec, I have always loved (and made) this delicious and traditional meat pie! This recipe was shared by my friend Rona-Lee.
In my house, we love it with mashed potatoes and gravy. While it is traditionally made around Christmas, it is a good thing to have in your freezer for any cold winter night!

Crust Ingredients: (2 shells for one pie)
1 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
8 tblsp shortening (Crisco)
1/3 cup cold Water
Mix pastry and roll on floured surface. Cut to desired shape for your pie plate.

Tourtiere filling:
1/2 lb ground Veal
1/2 lb ground Pork
1/2 lb ground Beef
1/3 cup chopped Onion
1/4 cup Water
1 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until meat has lost its pink color. Cool. Pour into pie shell. Cover with top crust. Bake at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Can be frozen for future.
