Yes, you can find bottled pasta vodka sauce in the grocery store. But there is nothing that beats this homemade version given to me by my friends Ian and Kim.
Ingredients:
3 tblsp Olive oil
4 oz. Prosciutto, sliced thicker than normal
3 cloves Garlic
1/2 tsp. Crused Red Pepper
1 can Italian tomatoes, drained (reserve 1/4 cup of the juice)
1 cup heavy Cream
1/4 cup reserved juice
1/4 cup fresh Basil, chopped
1/4 cup fresh Italian Parsley
1/3 cup Vodka
1 cup grated Pecorino Romano Cheese
Directions:
Put oil in pot and saute garlic, red pepper and prosciutto on low heat for about 10 minutes; add drained tomatoes, heavy cream, parsley, basil, and reserved juice. Bring to a boil. dd vodka; bring to a boil again while breaking up tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Pour over pasta, add cheese and toss.
Bon Appetit!
